Bipartisan E&C Leaders Hail Senate HELP’s Milestone to Deliver #CuresNow

April 6, 2016

Momentum Continues to Build as Today's Senate HELP Committee Votes to Bring Final Tally to 18 Bipartisan Bills Cleared Since February

WASHINGTON, DC – House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI), Health Subcommittee Chairman Joseph Pitts (R-PA), full committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO), and Health Subcommittee Ranking Member Gene Green (D-TX) today applauded the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) passing five more bipartisan bills as part of its medical innovation package that is similar to the House passed H.R. 6, the 21st Century Cures Act. Today’s markup was the third and final committee vote. The HELP Committee previously approved seven bipartisan bills in February and six bipartisan bills in March.

“Time is short for millions of patients, and we are grateful to Chairman Alexander (R-TN) and Ranking Member Murray (D-WA) for their diligence and hard work in putting together a companion to 21st Century Cures,” said Upton, Pitts, Pallone, DeGette, and Green. “The effort to deliver #CuresNow is not Republican or Democrat, but something we can only achieve together. We look forward to continuing our work and momentum with all stakeholders, including the White House, in order to make 21st Century Cures a reality for patients across the country.”
