Pallone Commends Administration’s Final Guidance on Considering Climate Change in Environmental Reviews

August 2, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement in response to the White House Council on Environmental Quality releasing final guidance for federal agencies on how to consider the impacts of their actions on climate change in their National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) reviews:

"The Administration's guidance to federal agencies on incorporating climate change considerations into NEPA reviews will ensure sound investments in infrastructure projects that anticipate future conditions and make our communities more resilient. NEPA is about making informed environmental decisions about federal projects, which must include consideration of climate change. This final guidance will help us adapt to the new conditions we face so that we make better-informed decisions to mitigate dangerous impacts on the climate."
