Pallone Lauds Creation of Office to Regulate Dietary Supplements

Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement commending the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its decision to create the new Office of Dietary Supplement Programs (ODSP). This new office will elevate the program from its previous status as a division under the Office of Nutrition Labeling and Dietary Supplements:

"I commend FDA for elevating the status of the dietary supplement program with the creation of ODSP. Today's announcement confirms that the agency is committed to enhancing its regulation of these products and fulfilling its responsibility to millions of American consumers who rely on safe, high-quality dietary supplements."
