Pallone, Levin, Scott: Six Strong Years for the ACA

March 23, 2016

Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI), and Education and Workforce Committee Ranking Member Bobby Scott (D-VA) – the top Democrats on committees with jurisdiction over the Affordable Care Act (ACA) – today released the following joint statement to highlight the sixth anniversary of the law:

“Six years ago, we took a bold step forward as a nation by passing into law legislation that has granted millions of Americans access to the affordable health care they need. And in each year since, we have seen how the ACA has improved health and strengthened economic security for families and individuals in communities all across our country. For the millions of Americans who are no longer denied health coverage because of pre-existing conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes, this law has mattered. For the young Americans who have been able to remain on their parents’ health insurance plans until age 26, this law has mattered. And for the individuals whose lives have been saved because they were able to afford the essential care they needed, this law has mattered. For every story we hear, there are countless more about how the ACA has changed lives – further motivating us to keep working hard to ensure this progress continues for years to come.”
