Pallone on S&P Report on ACA Stability

April 7, 2017

Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement today after S&P Global Ratings released a new report on the stability of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace:

"Today's report from S&P confirms that the Affordable Care Act is on stable ground, but it warns that Republicans' efforts to sabotage the law could impede that stability.

"The report highlights the very real damage President Trump and Republicans can inflict on the ACA as they continue to purposefully instill doubt and market uncertainty. These efforts to sabotage the law are intentionally designed to scare insurance providers away from participating in the Marketplace in an effort to undermine the ACA.

"The report is further proof that the ACA has never been in a ‘death spiral' as Washington Republicans wrongly claim, and that the Marketplace will continue to develop and stabilize over time.

"It's time for Republicans to stop their repeal and sabotage of the ACA and start listening to the American people."
