Ranking Members Pallone and Rush Look Ahead to Energy & Power Markup

July 21, 2015

Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Energy and Power Subcommittee Ranking Member Bobby Rush (D-IL) issued the following statement today regarding the subcommittee's scheduled markup of a bipartisan Committee Print released yesterday. The markup is set for tomorrow, July 22nd:

"The draft legislation to be marked up tomorrow is the product of months of thoughtful consideration in the Committee and ongoing bipartisan negotiations. Both sides have been working together in good faith to reach agreement where possible, and we thank Chairmen Upton and Whitfield for their efforts and willingness to do so.

"This latest draft reflects input from both sides, with proposals from Democratic members included and significant improvements made to more concerning provisions in earlier iterations. While progress has been made, though, there is much work still left to be done.

"Moving forward, further improvements are needed, and we must continue to consider all proposals carefully, particularly those that reflect Democratic priorities. We remain committed to working together to develop sound energy policy that benefits consumers, promotes American jobs, protects our environment, and puts us on a path to a cleaner, more resilient energy future."
