House Democratic Health Leaders Blast the Trump Administration’s Latest Scheme to Gut Health Care
Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA), and Education and Workforce Committee Ranking Member Robert C. "Bobby" Scott (D-VA) blasted the Trump Administration for another unworkable attempt to undermine the nation’s health care system and hike costs on millions of people:
“The White House’s new scheme to gut the expanded ACA premium tax credits is nothing more than the greatest hits of Republican health care ideas the people have rejected for years—hiking costs on families, pushing skimpier coverage, penalizing people who get sick, and expanding tax shelters for the wealthy. At this point, anything short of a clean extension is unworkable and won’t avoid the price hikes people are now facing. Five months after their signature legislation stole health care from millions, they’re right back at it, twisting themselves into knots to make Americans pay more only to get less.
“In Trump’s America, workers and families are always asked to sacrifice while the rich get rewarded.”
