Pallone and Neal Blast the Trump Administration for Closing the HHS Offices that Help Fight Fraud
Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement today on reports the Trump Administration is planning to shut down regional offices at the Department of Health and Human Services that help stop fraudulent billing and enforce nursing home safety standards:
“While Republicans in Congress try to justify a trillion dollars in health care cuts in the name of ‘waste, fraud, and abuse,’ the Trump Administration is shuttering the offices charged with rooting out fraud and protecting our seniors.
“If Republicans were serious about stopping fraud, they’d be demanding these closures be reversed. Instead, they’re spending their time drafting a devastating bill that will take health away from tens of millions of Americans.
“The real fraud and abuse is Republicans lying to the American public about cutting your health care to pay for tax cuts for billionaires and big corporations.”
