Pallone Blasts Republican Scheme to Take Away Health Care and Raise Costs
Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement on House Republicans' latest scheme to take away health care and raise costs for millions of people:
“The Republican bill will do nothing to lower costs for the millions of Americans who are now facing skyrocketing premium increases. Republicans have refused to extend the Affordable Care Act’s enhanced premium tax credits all year and that inexcusable inaction continues with this bill. House Republicans’ idea of a ‘new’ health care proposal to lower costs, essentially consists of a handful of decades old proposals that are proven to not work.
“What House Republicans are currently proposing would undermine the protections guaranteed under the ACA and undo all the progress we have made to protect access to health care. Under the Republicans proposal Americans will be forced to pay more and get less.
“The best way to reduce health care costs for millions of Americans right now is a clean three-year extension of the Affordable Care Act premium tax credits, and that’s what Speaker Johnson should bring to the House floor immediately.”
