Pallone: Every Health Care Premium Price Hike is a Republican Failure

Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today on the eve of health care premiums spiking for millions of Americans due to Republicans' refusal to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) enhanced tax credits: 

“This week, American families will feel the weight of the Republican health care crisis as premiums skyrocket for households across the country.

“All year long, Republicans in Congress had the opportunity to prevent this crisis and work with Democrats to lower health care costs. Instead, they decided to spend their time giving permanent tax breaks to their billionaire friends while President Trump calls the affordability crisis a ‘scam.’ The real scam is Republicans going home early for the holidays while their constituents are left with astronomical health care bills.

“Make no mistake, Republicans’ failure to extend the Affordable Care Act enhanced premium tax credits will result in millions losing coverage, foregone doctor’s appointments, skipped medications, overcrowded emergency rooms, and a sicker America.

“Leader Jeffries’s bipartisan discharge petition to extend these tax credits for three years can right this wrong and lower costs immediately. Speaker Johnson must bring this bill to the floor for a vote.”
