Pallone on the Senate Budget Resolution that Includes the $880 Billion Cut to the House Energy and Commerce Committee

Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today as the Senate prepares to take up its budget resolution allowing Republicans to pass giant tax breaks for the rich by making devastating health care cuts for American families:

“The Republican gaslighting continues. The Senate Budget Resolution relies on smoke and mirrors, but underneath it all, it still includes catastrophic cuts to Americans’ health care.

“The resolution still requires the Energy and Commerce Committee to cut at least $880 billion – almost all of which will come out of Medicaid. These cuts will be devastating and result in tens of millions of people losing their health care, hospitals closing, and nursing homes and home-based care providers shuttering.

“I understand why Republicans are trying to cover up what they’re doing. The American people are going to be outraged if Republicans take health care away from millions of people.”
