Pallone Slams Trump Admin for Brazenly Illegal Clawback of Solar Funding
“It’s a betrayal by this Administration of working families who will now pay higher energy bills just so Republicans can grind their axe against clean energy"
Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today blasting the Trump Administration for illegally clawing back $7 billion in obligated funds from the popular “Solar for All” program:
“The Trump Administration is stealing from working families in broad daylight. This money was intended for our constituents and communities to help lower energy bills. Clawing these funds back isn’t just brazenly illegal – it’s a betrayal by this Administration of working families who will now pay higher energy bills just so Republicans can grind their axe against clean energy.
“Make no mistake: if they are successful here, energy bills will needlessly soar for countless low-income and working families across the country, and Trump and his cronies will be directly responsible.”
The Solar for All program was created as part of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, under the leadership of Ranking Member Pallone. The program provided grants to states, tribes, and nonprofits to deploy solar to low-income and disadvantaged communities, lowering energy costs for working families.
