E&C Announces Additional Details on Infant Formula Hearing
FDA Officials & Executives of the Three Major Infant Formula Companies are Scheduled to Testify
Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chair Diana DeGette (D-CO) announced additional details today on the hearing the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee will hold on Wednesday, May 25, at 11 a.m. (EDT) in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing is entitled, "Formula Safety and Supply: Protecting the Health of America's Babies."
Pallone first announced the hearing on infant formula shortages last week.
"It is unconscionable that families are struggling to find safe and affordable infant formula," Pallone and DeGette said. "Our first order of business is an all-hands-on-deck response to ensure America's babies have the formula they need for their health and nutrition. At next week's hearing, we will hear directly from the senior Food and Drug Administration officials directly responsible for food safety, as well as executives from Abbott Nutrition, Gerber Products Company, and Reckitt as we work together to ensure this never occurs again."

This will be a hybrid hearing that includes both in person and remote member attendance via Cisco Webex video conferencing. Members of the public may view the proceedings via live webcast accessible on the Energy and Commerce Committee's website. Please note the webcast will not be available until the hearing begins.
The Committee strongly recommends that members of the media view the proceedings remotely. The Capitol and House Office Buildings currently have restricted access.
