Pallone Applauds Biden Administration’s $42 Billion Investment for States’ Broadband Infrastructure
Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today applauding the Biden Administration's announcement of state and territory funding distributions for the more than $42 billion in high-speed internet infrastructure funding. The funding comes from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law's Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program and represents the single-largest federal government effort to expand digital connectivity across the United States:
"Today's announcement is history in the making. Reliable, high-speed internet is not a luxury – it's a necessity. Americans depend on internet access to do their jobs, run their small businesses, complete schoolwork, and connect with family and friends. That's why we delivered for the American people with the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which included a $42.45 billion investment in broadband buildout, and I am pleased the Biden Administration has announced the funding allocations for the states and territories.
"And with the FCC releasing the new National Broadband Map last month, we are well prepared to ensure these unprecedented high-speed internet investments will reach unserved and underserved communities nationwide that have been left behind for too long. It's time we finally close the digital divide so that these communities can grow their economies for the future. I applaud the Biden Administration and look forward to every American, regardless of zip code, having the internet access they need."
