Pallone Blasts Latest GOP Efforts to Undermine Consumers’ Online Privacy

March 7, 2017

Washington, D.C.—Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) offered the following statement in response to the introduction of a resolution of disapproval by Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) that would roll back Federal Communications Commission (FCC) broadband privacy protections and prevent the commission from instituting similar protections in the future:

"I am dismayed that Republicans are using a scorched earth strategy to undermine Americans' privacy online. This procedural gimmick wouldn't just roll back the FCC's current broadband privacy rules, it would hamstring the agency. I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to oppose this plan devised by big corporate interests and instead protect the American people."
