Pallone on Nomination of Alex Azar as HHS Secretary

Nov 13, 2017
Press Release

Energy and Commerce Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today following news that President Trump has nominated Alex Azar for Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS):

“For ten months now the Trump Administration’s Health and Human Services Department has focused its attention on repealing and sabotaging the Affordable Care Act.  While the Inspector General continues its investigation into the questionable use of taxpayer funds by former Secretary Price, it’s now time for the leadership at HHS to refocus its attention on its mission – ensuring that the American people have access to quality and affordable health care.  HHS needs a strong leader who will implement the Affordable Care Act, rather than sabotage it, and who will work to lower costs for both health care coverage and prescription drugs.  I look forward to hearing more from Mr. Azar as he begins the confirmation process.”
