Pallone on Passage of Resolution Condemning Trump Administration’s Medicaid Block Grants

Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) issued the following statement today after the House passed H. Res. 826, Expressing Disapproval of the Trump Administration's Harmful Actions Towards Medicaid, by a vote of 223-190:

"Today, we sent a clear message to the Trump Administration: Congress will not tolerate illegal attempts to take away Americans' health care by cutting Medicaid.

"The Administration's block grant proposal would have devastating consequences on the health and wellbeing of millions of Americans struggling to make ends meet, including those affected by the opioid epidemic.

"Democrats are focused and determined to defend Americans health care against this cruel proposal. We've defeated Republicans' attempts to block grant Medicaid before and we'll do it again."
