Pallone on Supreme Court Stay Preserving Access to Mifepristone

Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement after the Supreme Court stayed a Texas District Court decision restricting access to mifepristone:

"This evening the Supreme Court did the right thing by rejecting Republican extremism and preserving access to mifepristone nationwide.

"Thankfully, the decision also maintains the Food and Drug Administration's authority to review and approve medicine based on science, not extremist political ideology.

"Unfortunately, we know Republicans will continue their efforts to restrict women's reproductive rights including advancing this case on the merits in the lower courts.

"However, Democrats are more than ready to fight back both in the courts and in legislatures. We won tonight and we will continue to proudly defend women's right to access abortion care."
