Pallone & Walden Applaud Passage of H.R. 269

“We urge our Senate colleagues to quickly take up this package and send it to the President’s desk for signature.”

Energy and Commerce Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) and Ranking Member Greg Walden (R-OR) issued the following joint statement today upon passage of H.R. 269, Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness and Advancing Innovation Act of 2019:

"The bipartisan Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness and Advancing Innovation Act of 2019 will strengthen our nation's emergency preparedness and response efforts and modernize the nation's regulatory framework for over-the-counter (OTC) drugs," Chairman Pallone and Ranking Member Walden said. "Thanks to this legislation our communities will be safer and better prepared for emergencies, and FDA's regulatory standards for OTC drugs will be modernized to better ensure consumer safety. This package is the product of bipartisan compromise and we urge our Senate colleagues to quickly take up this package and send it to the President's desk for signature."

The leaders continued, "We would like to thank Reps. Anna Eshoo, Susan Brooks, Diana DeGette, Bob Latta, Debbie Dingell, and Brett Guthrie for their dedicated work on this issue."

H.R. 269, Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness and Advancing Innovation Act of 2019, authored by Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and Rep. Susan Brooks (R-IN), passed the House by a vote of 401-17.
