Pallone Blasts Supreme Court Decision Allowing Trump to Fire FTC Commissioner Slaughter

Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement today on the Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision in support of President Trump’s illegal firing of Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter: 

"The Supreme Court's decision to overturn nearly a century of precedent and condone Trump's illegal firing of Commissioner Slaughter decimates the independence Congress gave the FTC. This decision clears the path for the oligarchs and corporate elite allied with President Trump to escape accountability while American consumers pay the price. Once again, the Court's conservative majority has shown it is little more than an extension of the Republican Party, eager to rubber-stamp this President's lawless power grabs at the expense of the American people. And once again, Republicans in Congress have shown they lack any will to fight back and protect Americans."
