Pallone Celebrates Democrats Winning House Majority
Washington, D.C. – Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement on Democrats winning the House majority last night:
“Last night, the American people overwhelmingly rejected the failed policies of President Trump and Congressional Republicans that prioritized billionaires and corporate interests over everyday people. This victory is both a historic win and opportunity, which is why Democrats must be prepared to act quickly and decisively to deliver for the American people. In the days ahead, I will be asking my Democratic colleagues for their support to serve as Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee to help lead a bold agenda that prioritizes all those struggling to survive on Republicans’ watch.
“Democrats must relentlessly pursue an agenda that puts working people first and focuses on resolving the outrageous price increases that are making it impossible for families to make ends meet. Over the last two years, Republicans have driven up the cost of virtually everything and imposed the largest health care cuts in history – stripping health care from millions, forcing people to pay more for less, and shuttering hospitals. We will advance policies that lower costs, expand access to quality and affordable health care, protect consumers and the environment, prioritize clean energy, and rein in Big Tech.
“We must also rein in the most corrupt Administration in our nation’s history with an aggressive oversight agenda that holds them accountable for repeatedly breaking the law, violating our Constitution, and enriching Trump, his family and his friends at taxpayers’ expense. The days of Trump getting a free pass are over as Democrats will investigate the widespread and blatant corruption that’s ripping off the American people.
